Analysis on arithmetic quotients
نویسنده
چکیده
For (b), let Θ be any subset of Γ, x in its complement, U as in (a). The neighbourhood xU of x contains at most one element of Γ. There exists a neighbourhood of x contained in xU and not containing any element of Θ. For (c), let V = U ·U, which is compact. The intersection of Γ with V is compact, and covered by disjoint neighbourhoods of each of its points. This intersection must therefore be finite.

Analysis on arithmetic quotients: SL(2) Classical and adelic automorphic forms
This essay will exhibit the realization of discrete series representations of SL 2 (R) on spaces of holomor-phic functions and relate them to automorphic forms for certain arithmetic groups. In a second essay I shall relate these in turn to representations of adèle groups, and more generally make remarks about the connection between arithmetic quotients and adelic quotients. By now the realizat...
متن کاملON VOLUMES OF ARITHMETIC QUOTIENTS OF SO(1, n)
We apply G. Prasad’s volume formula for the arithmetic quotients of semi-simple groups and Bruhat-Tits theory to study the covolumes of arithmetic subgroups of SO(1, n). As a result we prove that for any even dimension n there exists a unique compact arithmetic hyperbolic n-orbifold of the smallest volume. We give a formula for the Euler-Poincaré characteristic of the orbifolds and present an e...
متن کاملOn Two Functions Arising in the Study of the Euler and Carmichael Quotients
We investigate two arithmetic functions naturally occurring in the study of the Euler and Carmichael quotients. The functions are related to the frequency of vanishing of the Euler and Carmichael quotients. We obtain several results concerning the relations between these functions as well as their typical and extreme values.
متن کاملA variant of Heilbronn characters
In this paper, we introduce arithmetic Heilbronn characters that generalize the notion of the classical Heilbronn characters, and discuss several properties of these characters. This formalism has several arithmetic applications. For instance, we obtain the holomorphy of suitable quotients of L-functions attached to elliptic curves, which is predicted by the Birch–Swinnerton–Dyer conjecture, an...

متن کاملArithmetic of a fake projective plane and related elliptic surfaces
The purpose of the present paper is to explain the fake projective plane constructed by J. H. Keum from the point of view of arithmetic ball quotients. Beside the ball quotient associated with the fake projective plane, we also analize two further naturally related ball quotients whose minimal desingularizations lead to two elliptic surfaces, one already considered by J. H. Keum as well as the ...
